JORDAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL

CCD stands for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.

We share a CCD program with St. Pius X Parish and St. Mary’s Parish that is hosted at St. Pius X Parish in Rock Island.

The Religious Education programs seek to provide children and young people with the knowledge, experiences, and skills necessary to become faithful disciples of Jesus.

Religious Education is for children in grades 1 through 8.

The CCD program serves was founded on the belief that the primary responsibility for spiritual growth and development of the children at the parish rests first and foremost with the parents, who may delegate others to share the responsibility with them, but they do not relinquish it.

All sessions are held in Farrell Hall or Jordan Catholic School on Wednesdays for grades 1 through 8, from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.

The fee for classes is $60.00 for the first child and $30.00 for each additional child in the family.

Please note: to receive the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation, students are required to attend two consecutive years of Religious Education. That may include CCD, Family Formation, OR Jordan Catholic School.

Volunteer Catechists Spread the Good News!

Catechists present lessons and share their faith with the students. The word catechist comes from the Greek word “echo.”  Catechists echo the Word of God to our parish children.  They come from all walks of life and all ages: women, men, parents, grandparents, Confirmed teenagers, singles, and religious.

Catechists are not expert teachers or brilliant theologians.  They are ordinary people, just like you, who generously volunteer their time to share our Catholic faith, values, and traditions with our youngest generation of Christians.  They are positive role models who help children to grow in faith and spirituality.

What an important ministry! Their gifts have tremendous value . . . because through their words and actions, the message of Christ continues to spread throughout the world.
